New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has announced that from now on, he will only accept Bitcoin for all of his endorsements that could amount to more than $10 million.

“I’m taking my marketing money in bitcoin,” said Barkley on the Best Business Show where he first made the announcement.

“Now that I see [issues] with inflation and learning so much about Bitcoin … I think it would be the smart thing to do, the right thing to do, to start taking my investment money through bitcoin.”

He also shared that when one wants to “create generational wealth” like the KDs, the Lebrons, and [Tom] Bradys of the world, it’s hard to do with the sport that he plays with all the injuries.

“When you sit out of football for a whole year, you realize that this game could be taken away from you,” he said, as such investing in the leading cryptocurrency.

Barkley isn’t the first athlete to go the Bitcoin route; crypto-mania has been spreading all over the sports world. Back in Dec., NFL player Russell Okung started receiving half of his salary in BTC, seven months after he first demanded the same.

Kansas City Chiefs player Sean Culkin announced this year that he is taking his entire base salary for 2021 in BTC. American football quarterback Trevor Lawrence signed a deal with crypto exchange FTX in April and received his first payment exclusively in crypto.

The Sacramento Kings also announced that they are planning to offer a Bitcoin payment option to all of its players and staff while American professional baseball team Oakland A’s are adopting crypto as payment on fans’ demand.
