At a news conference ahead of the 2021 Bitcoin Conference in Wynwood, the Mayor for Miami Francis Suarez disclosed that Blockchain.com is going to move its headquarters to South Florida from New York City. And in addition, the cryptocurrency firm is looking to hire at least 100 - 200 people whose average salaries will be between $80,000 and $140,000 yearly.

"It's about leveraging Miami's talent against the world's top companies in order to build towards our goal of becoming a Miami that lasts forever and a Miami that works for everyone," Suarez said.

Although some people are still skeptical about cryptocurrencies, he was proud of his city's efforts to embrace the future.

Co-founder and CEO of Blockchain.com, Peter Smith, said the blockchain.com website accounted for 28% of all the bitcoin transactions worldwide since 2012.

And to ask why we chose to move down to Miami, I would like to say, "The city has a welcoming regulatory environment, serving as a hotbed for crypto innovation. And Miami has been one of Latin America's financial hubs and it is nothing but ideal for the company to move down here. We are geared up and are ready to give back to the community by investing in STEM programs.

Lastly, I will say this: The internet will be the biggest economy by 2030 and crypto is the financial system to support it.
